![]() Graves contained inhumations of adult females buried with their personal jewelry, which bears close analogies with both late Hallstatt and Celtic material culture. ![]() We will examine the very beginning of the formation process of the Scordisci, analyzing two earliest graves from the necropolis, dating from the end of 4th century. Karaburma is the only reliable source for comprehension of Celtic presence at the territory of Belgrade, since no solid trace of settlement has been found so far. Karaburma offers unique insight into the history of Scordiscian communities since it covers the period from their settling to their assimilation in Roman Empire. More than sixty years elapsed since the first excavation reports on Celtic necropolis Karaburma in Belgrade, and the site still stands out as one of the focal points for understanding of Celtic culture in Central Balkans.
